Here are some of the most popular items of western antique gold jewelry that are being worn today.
Cuff Bracelets
Thick cuff bracelets with Native American or Mexican designs are popular for their beauty and rich detailing. Common motifs include horses, bighorn sheep, cowboys, and steer.
Cuff Links
These usually come engraved and are accented with precious and semi-precious stones such as rubies.
Watch Fobs
Earrings
Among women, Native American dangling earrings are very popular and highly sought.
Rings
Bands for both women and men are available. They come in gold or sterling, and sport a wide variety of Native American designs. They may also be accented with precious or semi-precious stones, among them mother-of-pearl and turquoise.
Necklaces
Necklaces are less common vintage pieces but there are nonetheless quite a handful to choose from, among them beaded necklaces, Native American-styled necklaces, and western-themed pendants.
It depends. As a rule of thumb, however, any piece that is older than 25 years can be considered antique gold jewelry. So go ahead and choose your vintage piece. Some great resources for you would be to visit Fine Gold Jewelry
Women's Chunky Western Jewelry is In
Executive Summary about Western Jewelry By Lisa Anthony
Today's popular theme for women's western dress is the chunkier the better. Big stones of turquoise, jade, jasper, or tiger's eye are the rage. It's all good and looks great with most women's western and even some western men's outfits. Even time piece styles are being created with big stones embedded in the watch bands. It's all good and makes for a very fun, enthusiastic, and strongly Southwestern look. But, you can always make a serious fashion mistake following the trends too much.
I recently attended a very upscale semi-formal western dress event. As I was dressing before the event, I came to a decision point. Being in the western jewelry business, I obviously have plenty to choose from. I have it all, chunky, slim, silver, gold, turquoise, leather, you name it. My dilemma was finding the perfect look to go with my formal western outfit. I have no problem going chunky. I am a slim build with ample features. I was definitely leaning towards some of my best and most expensive turquoise and coral chunky necklaces and earrings. The longer I stood in front of the mirror, the worse I felt. Upon looking over my jewelry collection, I figured it out. I immediately reached for some of my best and most delicate sterling silver and turquoise jewelry. I chose a liquid silver necklace with beautiful turquoise stone accents. Dangling from the bottom of the necklace was a pair of sterling silver feathers. The necklace was just enough to compliment my western outfit, but not big enough to draw attention away from my features or my clothes. It also complimented the silver boot accessories I was wearing that night. That night at the event, I received many compliments on my clothes and especially on my jewelry. I have worn this necklace and earrings many times before. Several of my friends asked if it was a new line of jewelry I was selling as if they had never seen it before. Needless to say, it was a great evening. The lesson learned is don't always get caught up in the latest fashion craze.
